There comes a moment in every parent’s journey when their little one is ready to take the leap, saying goodbye to nappies overnight and sleeping in undies for the first time. It’s exciting, empowering, and let’s be honest, a little nerve-racking. At Little Aussie Monster, we get it. That’s why we’ve designed our ultra-absorbent kids’ Bed Pads to help make this transition as smooth (and dry!) as possible – for both kids and parents.
Start with training pants
There is no set time to start sleeping through the night without nappies, and according to experts most children under the age of five urinate in their sleep. Before jumping straight to nighttime, many families begin with our Training Pants. These are perfect for giving toddlers the confidence to manage daytime toilet training, offering just enough absorbency for minor accidents while still encouraging awareness. They’re soft, reusable, and come in fun prints your child will love.
Once your little one is consistently dry during the day, it’s time to give night-time a go. That’s where our Bed Pads come in.
Why our bed pad works
No more 2am bedding changes. Our children’s bed pad is a reliable and eco-friendly solution for overnight protection. With an absorbency of up to 2 litres, it gives you peace of mind while your child builds confidence sleeping without a nappy.
Here’s why our customers love them:
- Generous size (90cm x 90cm): Designed to fit most single beds, with enough coverage to catch accidents without having to change the whole bed.
- Soft, breathable top layer: Made with jersey cotton (95% cotton, 5% spandex) for a gentle and comfortable sleep surface.
- Quilted for extra comfort: No noisy crinkling like some plastic protectors. This feels just like a soft cotton layer.
- Waterproof base layer: Made from the same trusted waterproof PUL as our cloth nappies and wet bags.
- Tuck-in wings: This helps keep the pad in place throughout the night.
Machine washable and reusable: A sustainable, cost-effective alternative to disposable bed mats.
Whether your child is still mastering overnight dryness, going through a bedwetting phase, or just needs a little extra security, our bed pads offer the comfort and confidence they need.

Can’t I use a normal mattress protector?
Chances are, there is already a mattress protector on your beds, and so you might be wondering if that is all you need. A mattress protector is far thinner and far less absorbent, as that is not what they are ideally used for. As the name suggests, the mattress protector is so protect the matress from minor spillages and other damage and so it is not equipped to hold and protect your mattress from your child empying their bladder.
Helping your little one understand
When introducing the bed pad, it can help to frame it positively for your child. Try saying something like, “This special mat helps keep your bed comfy and dry while you’re learning to sleep without nappies. It’s just like your training pants, but for your bed!” Making it feel like a normal part of growing up can ease any anxiety and empower your little one to take pride in their new routine. Let them help tuck it into the bed because being involved helps them feel in control.
